The IQ has a small footprint and has a self-emptying feature. However, if you wish to alter the floor level on the map, or set no-go zones you'll have to manually reset it to do this, which can be quite a hassle.
The IQ's app comes with advanced mapping and automation capabilities however, it's not able to access no-go zones, which are available on iRobot models. The smart-pathing navigation system provides superior maneuverability and its high-pile carpet cleaning mode cleans well, though it tends to get caught up in rug tassels. Its iHome speaker allows you to operate the robot by voice commands.
In our tests in our tests, the IQ was able to handle pet hair well, clearing huge amounts of hair from bare floors and moderate amounts from medium-pile carpet. It was less efficient with shag carpets, where it struggled to get at dirt and dust embedded within the fibers. It was able navigate the legs of chairs, small spaces as well as the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. We did notice it was a little slower on floors with no flooring however it soon recovered speed and performed better than the other robots we tried.
The IQ is a better option for most users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a larger dustbin, lasts longer on a charge, and is capable of moving itself around obstacles. It has mopping tools that are able to remove sticky mess. On the other hand, the iRobot is more durable and has fewer components that require replacement or maintenance and incurs lower costs for recurring maintenance and can even create virtual no-go zones through its companion app. It is able to even resume cleaning from where it left off if it has run out of battery before having completed the task. The iRobot can also be controlled with voice commands, which is an enormous benefit for many users.
Eufy 11S
The eufy RoboVac 11S isn't the most feature-rich robot vacuum around, but it does offer powerful cleaning capabilities at a low price. It's a budget-friendly option for buyers who don't require a complicated mapping system or an app to control the device. The robot can run for more than an hour and includes a remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base and extra filters.
The 11S is slim and sleek, with a tempered glass upper deck that covers plastic finished to appear like brushed aluminum. It's a refreshing departure from the utilitarian and industrial designs of Roomba, Samsung and Neato.
In our tests, the eufy 11S was extremely effective at removing larger particles and fine dust on hard floors. It struggled to deep clean medium and high-pile carpets. It is also prone to smack into furniture and people in its path however, it's able detect these obstacles using sensors. If it encounters them it halts and emits a loud sound so you can manually steer it around the obstacle and get back to work.
The BoostIQ mode is a great feature of the eufy11S. It lets you set the robot up to automatically adjust the suction force based on the type of floor and the level of mess. It's also simple to use the remote to direct the 11S in the direction you want it to move.
Single Room Mode is a great alternative if you have a small amount of furniture in the area you'd like to vacuum. The eufy can spend 30 minutes cleaning the area that it's assigned.
Edge Cleaning is another option that can limit the time spent on each surface to a maximum of 20 minutes. This will increase the battery's life. This option allows the eufy to move in a spiraling pattern cleaning edges and corners.
