During testing it was able to tackle dry oats and dust on carpets of medium pile as well as pet hair on hard floors. It does not use LIDAR, however, as other models do, to map your home.

The iRobot Roomba S9+ is one of the most highly-rated robot vacuums. It comes with a variety of features and incredible cleaning power, including an area for dirt that is built into the base of charging. The S9+ is a new design from iRobot that is focused on improving the edge and corner cleaning. It's the first Roomba that has flat-fronted D-shaped designs. The company hopes that this will allow it to be able to hug furniture and walls. It's a nice improvement over the traditional hockey puck shape of the majority of robovacs. However, we found it to be marginally better than circular models.

iRobot claims that the S9+ also comes with superior filtration, which prevents microscopic particles and allergens recirculating throughout your home. It's a nice premise, however, we're not convinced it's enough to justify the premium price price.

For the mopping device, I was amazed with its ability to scrub off tough dirt from my floors. The two mopping modes that it has that are less aggressive than the more powerful ones, generate little noise, allowing you to work or watch television without interruption. If it comes across an object, such as a wall or piece of furniture it gently smacks into it and then moves forward.
